OMFG I actually set an alarm to wake up and do this hike (I am not a morning person..... haven't set an alarm in a very long while). The hike would take us about 6 hours.
There were tons of beautiful switchbacks.
This red tree was very interesting...... was unable to find out the species.
Wouldn't it be great to have a cottage up here?
I really enjoyed stopping to take the views in.
So did Matthew ;-)
it was 90 degrees at the campground...... but cold enough up here to sustain some snow cover.
Did you know that the most prominent peak in Texas is Emory Peak? It tops out at 7825 Feet above sea level.
We were told that there was a bit of a climb at the end of the trail..... but nothing too serious. They lied. It was quite challenging..... especially at that height.
My anxiety was so high that my legs were wobbling long after we got back down to the trail.
If you'd like to see the entire panorama for yourself click HERE for an interactive view.
I would not have had the courage to do the 'end climb' alone...... I am very thankful to have supportive friends.
Gotta run.

Amazing hike - thanks for taking us along. Such adventures you guys are having.
You'll have to do Rock Candy Mountain when you get up here - easy peasy compared to these.
Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
